2837
There are currently 2837 entrepreneurs, engineers, technicians and support staff working here, joining forces to create meaningful innovation in the vibrant business environment of the EPFL Park. We expect this number to multiply significantly over the next few years as the Park expands.
500
Companies in the Park benefit from the osmosis of ideas generated by the proximity of over 500 EPFL laboratories and research centers using cutting edge science and technology to better understand our world and face future challenges.
Academic Institutions
The EPFL Innovation Park is surrounded by numerous centers of academic excellence such as UNIL, IMD, HES-SO and ECAL, to name but a few. These institutions confer degrees in disciplines complementary to those of the EPFL. The Park offers opportunities for law, finance, business, healthcare, forensic science, design and other graduates to work alongside technology specialists on projects which often become successful startups. This pooling of competencies is actively encouraged by all the institutions.
Startups
Our network, which includes over 1000 startups as well as many successful entrepreneurs, facilitates the peer-to-peer exchanges and knowledge transfer that are essential to the development of our ecosystem.
Federal and Cantonal Partners
The EPFL Innovation Park and its companies are actively supported by various entities of the federal and cantonal governments, notably the Swiss Innovation agency Innosuisse and Innovaud, an agency of the canton of Vaud promoting investment and innovation throughout the canton.
Corporate Partners
EPFL laboratories collaborate with more than 300 large corporations worldwide. With 35 innovation cells and R&D centers on site, we are actively building a dynamic hub of disruptive and open innovation players.
Venture Capital
Hundreds of venture capitalists from all over the world have invested in EPFL startups. Successful exits and IPO's have accelerated recently while over CHF 700 million was raised by EPFL startups and scale-ups in 2021 alone.
Switzerland Innovation
Switzerland Innovation is a government funded, country-wide organization, whose role is to foster links between industry and Swiss academic institutions to turn research into marketable products and services. Their six sites - of which the Innovation Park is one - facilitate the exchange of ideas between companies and universities and create an attractive and competitive ecosystem which encourages innovation and investment as well as delivering high-value jobs.
